02 — The Martyrs of Córdoba
The flagship context of the collection: the well-documented “Martyrs of Córdoba” movement of c. 850–859, recorded by St. Eulogius and Paulus Albarus — and the modern scholarly debate over what kind of martyrs they were. This is the richly attested backbone against which the thin figure of Laura (who died in 864, just beyond the corpus) is set.
