05 — Arrest and Trial
The legal world that produced the Córdoba martyrdoms, and its application to Laura. The well-documented framework of the dhimma — the capital charges of blasphemy and apostasy, the qadi, and the dynamics that produced the martyrdoms — is drawn boldly; the charge against Laura, for which no trial record survives, is reconstructed from the movement’s pattern and reported as such.
