04 — The Convent of the Annunciation
The founding of the women’s Holy Monastery of the Annunciation (Evangelismos) on Patmos in 1937 and the sisterhood Amphilochios formed; and the spread of his spiritual daughters — the convents founded from Patmos and the missionary reach of his spiritual children, including in East Africa and the diaspora.
Tradition: Greek Orthodox (20th-c. elder; Ecumenical Patriarchate)
This section treats the enduring institution of the elder’s life. The first file follows the founding of the Convent of the Annunciation — from a knitting-and-weaving workshop under the occupation to the community of nuns that survives him. The second follows the spread: the daughter-houses founded on other islands, the charitable foundations, and the missionary labours of his spiritual children, with the East African and diaspora connections handled at the level the sources support.
