07 — Tikhon and Dostoevsky
The documented trail from the Zadonsk cell to world literature: Dostoevsky’s letter to Maikov of 25 March 1870 planning a novel around “Tikhon Zadonsky” — “the positive Russian type”; the suppressed Bishop Tikhon of Demons (“At Tikhon’s,” published only 1922); and the Tikhon layer in Elder Zosima, by the author’s own attribution — treated in deliberate consistency with the repository’s Optina collection, documented facts distinguished from scholarly inference throughout.
The first file assembles the documentary record; the second treats the Zosima composite, adopting the settled formulation of the-optina-elders §07: Ambrose and Optina for the figure and setting, Tikhon for the chief layer of the teaching, Dostoevsky’s own thought for much of the theology — proportions open.
