03 — Bishop of Voronezh
The reforming episcopate of 1763–1767: a vast, under-churched steppe diocese; a program of clergy education (the seminary consolidated by 1765), written instruction, and revived preaching; the suppression of the pagan Yarilo festival by a sermon; and the health collapse that ended it all in under five years, when the bishop was retired on 17 December 1767 at his own insistent petition.
This section treats the four Voronezh years. The first file describes the diocese and Tikhon’s pastoral analysis of it; the second the reforms themselves, the Yarilo affair, and the retirement.
