07 — The Pilgrim and Diplomat
The last phase of Sava’s life: the great pilgrimages to Jerusalem, Sinai, Egypt, and the Christian East, on which the monk was also a diplomat for the Serbian church and crown; and his death at Tărnovo in Bulgaria in the winter of 1235/36, returning from the Holy Land, followed by the translation of his relics to Mileševa.
