03 — The Dogmatician
Justin Popović’s central monument: the three-volume Dogmatics of the Orthodox Church, and the single idea that organizes it — Christ the God-Man (Bogočovek, Theanthropos), from whom the whole of his theology radiates.
This section treats Justin as what he most fundamentally was: a dogmatic theologian, the author of the first comprehensive Orthodox systematic theology written in Serbian, and one of the major dogmaticians of twentieth-century Orthodoxy. The first file describes the Dogmatika itself — its three volumes, its scope, its patristic method, and its place in the modern Orthodox recovery of the Fathers. The second isolates the organizing center of the whole: the God-Man, the Theanthropos, in whom, for Justin, every question of theology, anthropology, and culture finds its answer.
