03 — Metropolitan of Rostov
St. Dimitri’s episcopate: summoned to Russia by Peter the Great, appointed to Siberia in 1701 but unable to take that distant see, and installed instead as Metropolitan of Rostov and Yaroslavl in 1702 — the seven years of pastoral reform, of struggle with the ignorance of clergy and people, and of the grammar school he founded for the sons of his priests.
This section covers the diocesan years (1701–1709): the appointment, the see, and the reforming pastor at work.
