01 — Foundations
The Kyivan world that formed Daniel Tuptalo into the monk Dimitri: birth near Kyiv in 1651, the Kyiv-Mohyla Collegium, the tonsure of 1668, the years as a celebrated young preacher across the Ukrainian, Lithuanian, and Belarusian lands — and the summons to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in 1684 that set him to the labor of his life.
This section covers the life before the great work: where Dimitri came from, how he was educated, and how the call to compile the Lives of the Saints reached him.
