08 — Crete and the End
The decades of the episcopate and their close: Andrew as the working pastor of Crete — builder of churches, founder of charities, defender of his island against the Arab raids of the period — and his death at Eresos on the island of Lesbos around 740, as he returned from Constantinople where he had been on church business. This section treats the pastorate and the death.
This section returns from the works to the man’s last labors, treating his concrete pastorate on Crete and the well-attested account of his death and burial on Lesbos.
