06 — The Teaching
The Life is not only a story but a teaching text, and its teaching runs in two channels: the long apocalyptic prophecy of the last days — the famous Apocalypse of Andrew Salos — and the moral and spiritual counsel Andrew gives his disciple Epiphanios. This section treats each.
Tradition: Byzantine (Constantinopolitan)
Both channels are delivered through the dialogue frame (see Disciple Epiphanios and the Dialogues) and both are read here as the teaching the Life carries under Andrew’s name, not as the documented sayings of a historical elder (see Methodology).
