The Seal and the Continuation
John the Forerunner as the seal of the prophets — the last and greatest, in whom prophecy passes from foretelling to pointing — and the continuation of the prophetic charism in the Church, with its sober criteria and its warnings against delusion. The section closes with an assessment of what the Church confesses in venerating the prophets.
Tradition: Pan-Orthodox
The first file, john-the-seal-of-the-prophets.md, treats John the Baptist as the seal — “more than a prophet,” the one who pointed to the Lamb — and defers his biography in full to his own collection. The second file, the-prophetic-charism-in-the-church.md, treats the New Testament prophets (1 Corinthians 12), the fathers on the continuation of prophecy, the “clairvoyant” elders and the sober criteria that guard the gift against prelest (with depth deferred to the ascetic collections), and the closing assessment.
