Elijah and Elisha
The Prophet Elijah (feast 20 July), the most liturgically alive of the prophets — the zealot of Horeb, the fiery ascent, the Slavic Ilyin-den piety, the forerunner of the Second Coming — and his disciple Elisha (feast 14 June), who received the double portion and became the great wonderworker.
Tradition: Pan-Orthodox (with attention to Slavic popular piety)
The first file, elijah-the-fiery-prophet.md, treats Elijah’s zeal, the still small voice of Horeb, the fiery chariot, the Transfiguration, the Ilyin-den folk piety of the Slavs, and the received expectation of his return before the End, handled soberly per the eschatology collection. The second file, elisha-and-the-double-portion.md, treats the succession of the mantle, Elisha’s dense sequence of miracles read as types of Christ, the reviving power of his very bones, and the origin of his feast on 14 June.
