05 — The Guardian Angels

The Church holds that God gives His angels charge over His people — over each of the faithful, over churches, and over nations. This section sets out the doctrine of the guardian angel from its scriptural roots (Matthew 18:10; Psalm 91; Acts 12:15) and the Fathers, quotes the received prayers of the Orthodox prayerbook precisely, and treats the wider guardianship of churches and of nations (Daniel 10; Deuteronomy 32:8 LXX; Revelation 2–3), together with the canon to the guardian angel.

Tradition: Pan-Orthodox
