Section 01 — Foundations
Raphael Hawaweeny was born in 1860 in Beirut, into a Damascene Orthodox family that had just fled the anti-Christian massacres of that year, and he was formed in Damascus amid the Arab awakening within the ancient Patriarchate of Antioch. This section establishes his origins and the world that shaped him.
