08 — Glorification and Veneration
The Church’s formal recognition and the explosive contemporary cult: the glorification of St. Nikephoros by the Ecumenical Patriarchate in 2012, with the feast fixed on 4 January, and his rapid emergence — through icons, relics, and reported miracles — as one of the most-invoked healer-saints of our time.
Tradition: Greek Orthodox (20th-c. Cretan monk; glorified 2012)
This section treats the transition from local veneration to universal commemoration, and the striking speed and breadth of Nikephoros’s cult in the years since. The miracle-dimension is reported soberly, under METHODOLOGY §3.5.
