07 — Teaching and Miracles
The practical ascetic teaching attached to Macarius’s name, and the miracle and clairvoyance narratives the sources attest of him. The first drawn chiefly from the sayings and the spirit of the corpus; the second reported as what the source-texts claim, pinned to each, and never certified as historical fact.
Tradition: Pan-Orthodox (Church Father)
This section gathers the two things a reader most often wants from a desert father: his counsel on how to live, and the wonders the tradition tells of him. The first file distills the ascetic teaching — on prayer, on the warfare of the passions, and on watchfulness — that runs through the Apophthegmata and harmonizes with the spirituality of the corpus that bears his name. The second file collects the miracle and clairvoyance accounts: the talking skull, the raising attributed to him, the healing on the island of exile, the readings of hidden hearts. Per METHODOLOGY.md §3.5, each is reported as what a named source attests, never as a verified event; this is hagiography handled with the discipline of attestation rather than asserted as bare fact.
