09 — Assessment

A sober closing assessment of St. Ketevan: what is firmly known, what is genuinely contested, and what this collection claims and does not claim; and a final reflection on the relation between the historical Ketevan — the seventeenth-century queen recoverable from the sources — and the venerated Ketevan, the great martyr of the Church.

Tradition: Georgian Orthodox

This section draws the collection together. The first file is a structured assessment: an honest ledger of the secure core, the open questions, and the disposition the collection has taken toward each, gathering the judgments made across the preceding sections. The second is a reflective closing essay on the two Ketevans — the historical figure and the venerated saint — and on why, in her unusually well-documented case, the distance between them is small and the relation between them clear.

File Description
assessment.md The structured assessment: the firmly attested core; the genuinely contested points (birth year, exact date, torture details, religious/political framing, the Goa identification); and the collection’s disposition toward each, per the methodology.
the-historical-and-the-venerated-ketevan.md The closing reflection: the historical Ketevan and the venerated Ketevan; how, in a case so well attested, the two nearly coincide; and what her witness offers, held soberly.
