09 — Glorification and Legacy
The end of the story and its aftermath: the Serbian Orthodox Church’s glorification of Justin in 2010, the feast of 1/14 June, and a sober assessment of his stature and his contested legacy.
This section closes the collection. The first file treats the glorification: the veneration that grew at his Ćelije grave, the decision of the Serbian Holy Assembly of Bishops in 2010, and the feast on which he is commemorated. The second offers a sober, provisional assessment: Justin’s stature as the foremost Serbian dogmatician of the century, the achievement of the Dogmatics and the Lives of the Saints, the weight and the risks of his critique of humanism and ecumenism, and the honest verdict of a legacy still being worked out.
