08 — Teacher and Disciples
Justin between two generations: the disciple of St. Nikolai Velimirović, and the teacher of the “Justinian bishops” who would lead the Serbian Orthodox Church into the twenty-first century.
This section places Justin in the human chain of the Serbian Orthodox revival. The first file treats his relationship to St. Nikolai Velimirović — the great bishop-poet and evangelist in whose orbit Justin was formed and with whom he shared the theanthropic critique of European humanism. The second treats his own disciples: the group of theologically formidable young monks who came to him at Ćelije and became bishops — Amfilohije Radović, Irinej Bulović, Atanasije Jevtić, and others — through whom his theology entered the leadership of the Church, and whose later divergences are themselves part of his story.
