08 — Veneration
The cult and its setting: the veneration of St. John Jacob in Romania and at Hozeva, where his relics rest at the Monastery of St. George of Choziba, and the wider Romanian monastic presence in the Holy Land within which his life and his cult are set.
Tradition: Romanian Orthodox (20th-c. hermit of the Judean desert; glorified 1992)
This section places the saint’s veneration in its two homes — the Romanian homeland and the Judean desert shrine — and in the context of the long Romanian monastic presence in Palestine.
