06 — Sources
The evidentiary situation: John Jacob is one of the best-documented saints in this repository — a twentieth-century figure who left a large written corpus, was photographed, and was attended by a literate disciple who long survived him. This section inventories the sources per METHODOLOGY §3.5 and sets out what his own corpus attests directly.
Tradition: Romanian Orthodox (20th-c. hermit of the Judean desert; glorified 1992)
This is the source-critical section of the collection. Where the repository’s thin-sourced saints require the caution of the Xenia model, John Jacob illustrates the opposite pole: a modern desert saint whose documentary floor is unusually firm.
