05 — Repose and Relics
The end and its sequel: John Jacob’s death in the cave of St. Anne on 5 August 1960 at the age of forty-seven, and the finding of his relics twenty years later, in August 1980, reported incorrupt and fragrant, and translated to the church of St. George of Choziba — the event that precipitated his glorification.
Tradition: Romanian Orthodox (20th-c. hermit of the Judean desert; glorified 1992)
This section treats the repose and the reported incorruption with the repository’s discipline: the death is well-attested by the disciple; the incorruption is reported as the tradition attests, pinned to its sources per METHODOLOGY §3.5.
