05 — The Theology of Mercy
The center of Isaac’s vision: the merciful heart that burns for the whole of creation — for men, for birds, for animals, even for the demons — and the God whose mercy so far outweighs His justice that, Isaac dares to say, one ought not even to call Him just. Mercy as the heart of the ascetic life and the deepest name of God.
