09 — Legacy and Assessment
The enduring significance of St. Iakovos Tsalikis — a monastery revived, a spirituality of humility and the Liturgy, a saint of the refugees and of the modern Greek eldership — and a sober assessment of a very recently glorified elder, honest about the devotional character of the sources and the provisional nature of any contemporary judgment. These two files close the collection.
Tradition: Greek Orthodox (20th-c. elder; glorified 2017)
Iakovos was glorified only in 2017; his assessment is necessarily offered as a contemporary judgment rather than the settled verdict of the Church’s long reception. This section states his legacy — what he did and what he is remembered for — and then assesses him soberly: the strength and the devotional character of his record, his place among the modern elders, and the honest limits of what can be said of a saint so recently received.

| File | Description |
|---|---|
| Legacy | What Iakovos leaves: the restored Monastery of St. David; a witness to the primacy of the Liturgy and to the sanctity of hidden humility; a saint of the Asia Minor refugees; and his place in the modern Greek renewal of the eldership. |
| Assessment | A sober weighing: the strength and the devotional provenance of the record; the honest handling of the visionary and miracle claims; his distinctive profile among the modern elders; and the provisional character of any judgment of a saint glorified within living memory. |
