08 — Repose and Glorification
The end and the crowning of St. Ephraim’s life: his repose at Katounakia on 27 February 1998, and his formal glorification by the Ecumenical Patriarchate on 9 March 2020 — in the very same synodal act that glorified his master St. Joseph the Hesychast and St. Daniel of Katounakia.
Tradition: Greek Orthodox / Athonite
This section covers St. Ephraim’s death and the Church’s recognition of him. The first file treats his final illness, his repose in 1998, and his feast on 27 February; the second treats the March 2020 glorification, its precise scope, its precursor in the October 2019 announcement, and what a glorification does and does not claim.
