07 — The Sources
The source-critical heart of the collection. Nearly everything known of St. Ephraim descends from a single devotional cluster — the biography and counsels of his own community, the testimony of St. Joseph the Hesychast’s circle, and the contemporary record of Metropolitan Hierotheos (Vlachos). This section inventories those sources, weighs what each can bear, and states how the collection handles the interior and miraculous under METHODOLOGY §3.5.
Tradition: Greek Orthodox / Athonite
This section is the collection’s source-critical flagship. The first file takes the sources as dated artifacts, weighs their independence and reliability, and states the rules the collection follows in writing about a hidden hermit who left almost nothing in his own hand. The second states the §3.5 discipline for the visionary and miraculous claims and explains why it does not conflict with venerating him as a saint.
